Brad Pitt left Angelina Jolie in Chicago and headed back to New Orleans to tour the city’s Lower 9th Ward on Tuesday and check up on the progress of the Global Green project set up to provide a global-friendly environment for the Hurricane Katrina ravaged district.
Pitt relocated to New Orleans with his partner Angelina Jolie in January and has since launched a community project aimed at providing low-income residents of the Lower 9th Ward with affordable, energy-efficient housing.
Part of Pitt’s tour included a three-bedroom home that is nearing completion. The house is equipped with energy-saving appliances, methods for water conservation, solar panels and soy-based insulation.
As part of the Global Green project an 18-unit apartment complex will be built with the same goals in mind. A community center for the Lower 9th Ward is also in the works.
