Britney Spears has backed out of yet another opportunity to make a musical comeback. The pop princess reportedly backed out of recording a duet with her former flame Justin Timberlake. Timberlake wrote the song especially for Spears, but she refused to record it at the last minute.
The duet was going to be produced by hit R&B record producer Timbaland. Spears’ decision to back out of the duet has top executives at her record label, Jive, worried but sources say that Jive is still supporting her. “People at Jive have been with Britney since album one, and have an investment in her. They have faith that once the material is there, she will become focused and step it up. She’s very competitive, but at the end of the day, it’s hard. She has to do the work – no one can do it for her.”
“Timbaland set aside a week out of his crazy schedule to do this – and then, just before she was supposed to fly out, Britney abruptly canceled the session and refused to do the song,” the source added. “It’s crazy. She’s looking for a comeback, and this would have not only been a huge hit, but something she could have opened the MTV Video Awards with and really blown everyone away.”
The ‘Toxic’ singer’s erratic behavior over the past months has caused many to become concerned about her. Spears ex husband Kevin Federline is now fighting to get primary custody of their two sons saying Spears is unfit to care for their young boys.
