General Motors announced today that it will be eliminating overtime at six of its North American SUV truck plants for the remainder of the year. This could be a real be problem for many who depend on the over time income to help with their daily lives. The reduction in hours is due to the slumping demand for the large vehicles.
The underlining part of this is that many point high fuel prices and a struggling housing marketing nation wide as the problem. GM spokesman Tom Wickman stated that the company was to make sure that they manage inventory levels.
The six locations where overtime will be eliminated are Flint, Michigan; Oshawa Ontario; Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Janesville, Wisconsin; Arlington, Texas; and south of the boarder Silao, Mexico.
