MLB Scores: Texas Rangers set AL Record in 30-3 Rout of Baltimore Orioles.

The Texas Rangers set a modern MLB record scoring 30 runs in their game against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night. The 30 runs surpassed the 29-run mark set by the Red Sox (1950) and the White Sox (1955) but missed the all-time mark set by the Chicago Colts in 1897 who plated 36 runs.

Baltimore actually led 3-0 heading into the top of the fourth but a single from recently acquired Jarrod Saltalamacchia scored two and a three-run blast from Ramon Vazquez gave the Rangers a 5-3 advantage.

In the sixth inning the wheels fell of for the Orioles as Texas added another nine runs highlighted by a Marlon Byrd grand slam and a solo shot from Saltalamacchia. With the score 14-3 the Rangers tacked on another ten runs in the eight as Travis Metcalf hit a grand slam and Saltalamacchia delivered his second bomb of the night.

Texas then put another six runs on the board in the ninth, the final three coming on Vazquez’s second home run of the game. The Rangers finished with 29 hits and put at least six runs on each of the four Orioles pitchers as Saltalamacchia and Vazquez each collected 7 RBIs.
