Evangelist Juanita Bynum was attacked early Wednesday morning by her estranged husband in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel. Bynum, known for her fiery delivery and subject matter, including sexual promiscuity and women's empowerment, was taken to Piedmont Hospital after the attack.
Bynum and husband Bishop Thomas Weeks met up at Renaissance Concourse Hotel near Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in an attempt to reconcile, according to Atlanta police. Around 4am, their interactions became physical until a bellman at the hotel pulled Weeks off of her.
Weeks, also a preacher, fled the scene. No charges have been filed against him thus far.
Bynum was left bruised and battered around her neck and upper torso.
Bynum currently lives in West Hempstead, NY, but her ministry is based in Waycross, GA. She got her first break when Bishop T.D. Jakes invited her to speak at one of his conferences. Over the past couple of years, her ministry has flourished.
In 2002, Bynum's wedding to Weeks, who started the Global Destiny churches nationwide, was televised.
