Kobe Bryant and LeBron James Lead Team USA to Easy Win in FIBA Americas Opener

Kobe Bryant grabbed 5 rebounds, dished out 5 assists and scored 14 points on 5-8 shooting while LeBron James added 11 points with 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals as Team USA rolled over Venezuela 112-69 in their opening game of the FIBA Americas tournament.

While Bryant and James made the highlight reel it was the steady perimeter shooting of Michael Redd that proved to be the most positive sign for the U.S. Redd finished with 17 points and hit 3-5 three-pointers, forcing Venezuela to step out to guard him and opening up the lane for Amare Stoudemire and Dwight Howard..

Stoudemire finished with 17 points while Howard added 12 points and 8 rebounds in 14 minutes of action.

As a team the United States out-rebounded Venezuela 43-32, handed out 16 more assists and blocked six more shots in the game.

Redd’s 17 points was equaled by Carmelo Anthony who finished 6-13 shooting in the opener.

Team USA will next meet the U.S. Virgin Islands Thursday night.
