School Closings in Dayton Due to Excessive Heat

Excessive heat in the Dayton, OH area has caused a rash of school closings. Dayton Public School will be closed today for the fifth time since August 6. Arise Academy preschool, Chappie James Leadership Academy and the East End Accelerated Community School will be closed as well.

Beavercreek City Schools, Catholic Central Elementary and Junior and Senior high schools in Springfield, Covington Exempted Village Schools, Eaton Community Schools, Fairborn City Schools and Huber Heights Schools have planned to dismiss school two hours early.

Temperatures in the area are expected in the 90s, but the high amount of humidity will create a heat index of 100 to 105 degrees. The combination of this high heat and humidity is a dangerous combination that can lead to various summer sicknesses.
