David Wells has reached a tentative agreement to join the Los Angeles Dodgers, less than one month after the San Diego Padres released the 235-game-winner.
Wells, 44, could join the Dodgers as early as Sunday and face the New York Mets as Los Angeles makes a push for the playoffs. L.A. has been desperate to repair a pitching staff that has faced numerous injuries and with the 21-year-vet available the Dodgers were quick to inquire.
The San Diego Padres designated Wells for assignment on Aug. 10 after he compiled a 5-8 record with a 5.54 ERA.
