17-year old George Hotz, of Glen Rock, NJ, announced today that he has officially hacked into and unlocked the new iPhone, becoming the first person to do this. The iPhone was thought to be impervious to hacking due to its cutting-edge technology and protection.
Hotz is using the phone with T-Mobile service, something that was thought to be impossible. The phone only offered service with AT&T.
Hotz is selling the unlocked phone on eBay, along with the world's first serial loading dock and the official unlock switch from the blog. Hotz is selling these items together, so he is urging potential bidders that this is one big package and they cannot have just the phone.
