The Commission for the European Union announced Wednesday that it would be investigating antitrust claims surrounding Google Inc. (GOOG), though an official antitrust investigation had not yet begun.
The commission, comprised of the Union's executive body, has reportedly received three claims against the Internet search company, which they intend to examine more closely.
Minor action as already been taken. Earlier in February, the commission addressed the issues with Google and requested that the company comment on the allegations.
Google said only that the examination related to searching and search advertising.
