Ask Me About 'Shall Not Be Infringed.'

The Clause means a lot more than guns - it means marriage, education, parenting and much more. How, exactly?

With a Jesse Jackson Protest against Gun Stores because some of our children were killed by criminals, liberty enthusiasts around the nation have scheduled a response this August 28th. You may see them posted at many gun stores available for answering questions.

Author and Columnist John Longenecker had the idea of creating a Button inviting laypersons to ask just what's it all about. Aren't our liberties protected in this country? Some are..some aren't. It's certainly not automatic.

"And what's more, ' says Longenecker, "is that some of those liberties you have to protect on your own."

Asking a Gun Owner what the Second Amendment is really all about can be an enlightening experience for journalists as much as everyone else. For instance, it's not about guns anymore than the First Amendment is about Typewriters. Right, colleagues?

"Some Americans are against guns because they're against violence," adds Longenecker, "And it's reasonable at first, but you might be surprised to discover that an armed citizenry protects marriage, family, education and a lot more than personal safety. The key is that violence is used and abused to alter parenting authority, to create easy-out divorce, erasure of history, political correctness, and to re-arrange other areas of our way of life."

Ask what it's really all about.
