Despite completing 20 of his 31 passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns Brady Quinn won’t be taking snaps as the starting quarterback when the Cleveland Browns open their NFL season with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 9.
Quinn missed Cleveland’s first preseason game due to an 11-day holdout but has been very impressive since settling his contract dispute. On Saturday Quinn finished hitting 7 of his 11 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown against the Denver Broncos.
While Quinn has certainly been impressive it still hasn’t convinced Browns general manager Phil Savage that the 22-year-old is ready to lead the offense. Savage was quoted as saying “It's unrealistic for Brady to be in the mix for the opener.’
With Brady not an option as the Sept. 9 starter the choice boils down to either Charlie Frye or Derek Anderson.
