Miss Teen South Carolina Lauren Caitlin Upton Can’t Escape Pageant Question
For Miss Teen South Carolina Lauren Caitlin Upton the Miss Teen USA competition won’t be remembered for her third runner-up finish but rather her perplexing answer to the question why one-fifth of Americans can’t find the United States on a map.
In response to the question posed Miss Teen South Carolina responded by commenting on U.S. Americans lacking maps and then went on to mention South Africa and Iraq needing educational help from the United States.
The answer issued by Lauren Caitlin Upton identified “the Iraq” and the “Asian countries” as needing the support of the American educational system in identifying the United States on the map, completely missing the point of the question.
Needless to say Lauren Caitlin Upton has taken a beating by many individuals who have posted comments after witnessing the video. While the Miss Teen USA Pageant was won by Hilary Carol Cruz from Colorado most will remember the night for the strange response issued by Miss Teen South Carolina.
