Larry Craig Resigns from Position in Mitt Romney Presidential Campaign

Shortly after news broke that Larry Craig had entered a guilty plea to a disorderly conduct charge involving an incident in a men’s bathroom the U.S. Senator resigned from his position as Senate co-chairman for the Mitt Romney presidential campaign.

Senator Larry Craig had been arrested back in June after a plainclothes policeman had been assigned to investigate complaints surrounding lewd conduct in a men’s bathroom at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

For his part the Senator from Idaho denied any inappropriate conduct and asserted that the situation had been misinterpreted.

Craig had been given the position of co-Senate chairman for the Romney campaign back in February. He shared the post with Robert Bennett of Utah.
