Barack Obama Seen As The Great Conciliator

From vowing to meet with the country’s enemies to wanting to allow Cuba to rejoin the rest of the world, Illinois Senator Barack Obama is being portrayed as the reconciliation candidate. Whether it is his roots in Hawaii with a Kenyan father and Hawaiian mother that makes him want to get along with everyone, except other candidates, that is.

However, while seeking to make nice with other countries and their rulers, Obama is not doing such a great job with potential voters. Especially on the issue of illegal immigration. For some reason, many in the country illegally are taking exception with the notion that they learn English as a pathway to citizenship and Obama’s inclusion of that in any immigration reform measures is turning away many Spanish-speaking voters.

While other Democratic candidates begin to attack his lack of national experience there are some voters who see that as a plus. They view his being new to Washington as not being a part of the political machine and figure they can get a few independent years out of him before he is assimilated into Washington politics. However, name recognition is considered low for a presidential contender, his fundraising efforts may help eliminate that deficit.

He is playing on his inexperience in Washington through his campaign of offering a Road for Change, telling the voters that it is time for someone without the baggage of influence to move into America’s top spot. His website, www.barackobama.com offers more than just his views on the current political climate, but also his idea on how that climate needs to be changed.
