Leona Helmsley Leaves Her Maltese $12 Million in Will, Grandkids Get Nothing

Leona Helmsley didn’t earn the title “Queen of Mean” by accident. On Tuesday the will of the billionaire was revealed and in it a $12 million trust fund was set up for her dog, a Maltese named Trouble.

Helmsley also stipulated that “when my dog, Trouble, dies, her remains shall be buried next to my remains in the Helmsley mausoleum.”

Alvin Rosenthal, Helmsley’s brother, was left millions as the dog’s caretaker and she also left two of her grandchildren $5 million each. Helmsley’s other two grandchildren got nothing. All four of her grandchildren were children of Jay Panzirer, her only son. Panzirer died in 1982 from a heart attack.

As part of the two grandchildren that were left $5 million, they must visit the grave of their father once a year or the money will not be granted.

Leona Helmsley died on Aug. 20, 2007 at the age of 87.
