Nikon Reveals new Digicam Models

Japan’s own Nikon Corp. will release two new models of high-end single-lens reflex digital cameras in November. A move bound to intensify competition with rival Canon Inc.

Nikon will be releasing the new D3 and D300 models. The D3 is geared more toward professional users. It is equipped with a large CMOS, complementary metal oxide semiconductor, sensor that enhances the picture quality in comparison to the company's previous model. The new D3 features ultra-high sensitivity, enabling professional users to capture pictures in dark surroundings. It will be sold at around $ 5,000.00 (580,000 yen) each.

The other D300 model features a 12.3 mega pixel image sensor in comparison to the 10 mega pixel sensor used in Nikon's previous high-tech model. It will be priced at around $ 2,000.00 (230,000 yen) for each camera purchase.

Nikon is hoping to capture an immense increase in global market shares, as well as consumer satisfaction in regard to other digital camera companies.
