Brian Bonsall, best remembered as Andy Keaton on the hit sitcom “Family Ties,” was sentenced to two years probation on Friday after he was arrested on a domestic violence charge in March.
The 25-year-old actor admitted he had an alcohol and drug problem and completed a 30-day rehab program. On Friday he pled guilty to third-degree assault charge related to the March incident that, according to his girlfriend, involved choking and throwing her on a bed.
Bonsall joined the cast of “Family Ties” at the age of five and quickly became a favorite of viewers and added a new depth to the character of Alex Keaton played by Michael J. Fox.
