Hurricane Felix Becomes “Potentially Catastrophic” Storm

Hurricane Felix was elevated to a Category 5 storm after it passed through the Caribbean Sea sustaining winds up to 165 mph on its way towards Central America.

Felix is expected to pass by Honduras on its way up the Yucatan peninsula where its effects could be “potentially catastrophic” according to forecasters. While Hurricane Felix is expected to pass by Honduras the airport was jammed by tourists looking to get out before the storm arrived on Tuesday.

Honduras may avoid the catastrophic damage of Felix, Belize is directly in its current path. It has been less than a month since Hurricane Dean hit Belize causing more than $100 million in damage to the country.
