Hitting the border of Honduras and Nicaragua early Tuesday morning, Hurricane Felix brought with it Category 5 strength winds that tore apart everything in its path. While most in the coastal border towns were evacuated many opted to ride out the storm and their fate is not yet known.
Many of the coastal towns are difficult to reach and with communication knocked out it could be some time before an accurate assessment of the damage can be made. While the Category 5 Hurricane Felix has passed the border towns it is now expected to dump enough rain to cause major mudslides in the mountainous regions of Honduras and Nicaragua.
Hurricane Felix is expected to roll through Central America and eventually hit the Pacific by Friday.
