Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said that he wants to overhaul the health care system of the country and tailor fit it to the needs of the different states. According to Romney, the idea that one health care program fits all is no longer viable thus there is a need to find better solutions to answer the needs of the people. He believe that by deregulating the insurance market, capping the malpractice damages and ensuring that all people gets health care insurance should be one of the primary focus of the government. He pledged that if he is elected as president of the country, he will give the areas of health care much attention.

Mitt Romney's chances of winning the presidency has been increasing lately due to his strong performances in the early states of Iowa and New Hampshire. USAElectionPolls.com has tracked his poll numbers dating back to January of 2007 and a steady increase has been observed.

Part of Romney’s proposal is to re-direct the federal money which is currently used to reimburse hospitals for treating people without insurance to help low-income people but health care insurance. According to him, redirecting the federal money can be very helpful to the people as this will mean that all people will not be able to afford health care insurance.

Although Romney’s health care proposals were met will enthusiasm by some sectors, there are also a lot of people who do not agree with the proposals of Romney. According to Senator John Edwards, a Democratic presidential candidate who is also pushing for better health care system in the country, the proposal of Romney is not viable. According to him, taking money from the emergency room is very dangerous. He also challenged Romney to explain why the health care system in one state is not applicable to another state.
