She was a pre-teen screen star with unlimited potential and then her life began to unravel. Many still remembered her as the cutie from the remake of Parent Trap when Lindsay Lohan began getting more attention in 2007 for her bad behavior than for her acting or singing work.
Recently, in an interview with British newspaper The Sun, Lohan admitted to past problems with “alcohol, cocaine and mind-altering substances.” Now 23, the actress and tabloid regular attributed her trouble in 2007, when she was arrested and entered treatment three separate times, to family problems.
Particularly frightening was a story Lohan told about taking the sleep aid Ambien and passing out while in a hotel bathtub, waking only once the water was overflowing. Following that incident, Lohan checked into rehab for the first time. She would return two more times, after arrests for drunk driving and cocaine possession.
Lohan tells The Sun that she’s learned from her mistakes now, adding, “I’m now healthy and happier.” Ongoing therapy and alcohol education are also keeping her on track.
