Shooting At Birney Elementary School Leaves Teacher Dead

A shooting at a Tacoma, Washington elementary school left one teacher dead. Authorities say Jennifer Paulson, a special education teacher at Birney Elementary, was shot and killed outside the school around 7:35 a.m. No one else was injured or killed.

Paulson was targeted by a man identified as 30-year-old Jed Waits. Waits had been stalking Paulson, also 30, before she obtained a restraining order against him. Apparently angry about the restraining order, Waits waited outside the school and ambushed Paulson.

Waits fled the scene but was shot and killed by police a few blocks away. No other details were available.
