Congo Ninja Leader Returns

Approximately 300 former rebel “Ninja” fighters have arrived in the Congolese capital, Brazzaville, to welcome their leader, Pastor Ntumi.

Long time leader Ntumi is expected to return to Brazzaville for the first time in ten years. His intended mission was to launch a guerilla war. But soon following he signed a peace agreement, which guarantees him a government position.

He will serve as junior minister accountable for peace and reparations in return for disbanding his militia.

The arrival of the Ninjas in Brazzaville was quite a surprise for the government and worrisome for the surrounding villagers. Although the Ninjas have left their guns behind, concern still moves throughout the capital because of their reputation for thievery and rape.

If Pastor Ntumi occupies his appointed government position as a junior minister on Monday, it could be the beginning of ending Congo's most recent civil war.
