Nigeria wins U-17 World Championship

Nigeria's Under-17 men's soccer team won the World Cup on Sunday beating Spain 3-0 on penalities. The win marked the third time Nigeria has captured the Under-17 World Cup title.

Spain missed their first three penalties, and the Nigerian Flying Eaglets dispersed energy through players, Matthew Edile, Daniel Joshua and Ganiyu Osei.

The victory gave Nigeria their third under-17 world title. Other winning tournaments were in 1985 and 1993.

The Nigerian team also won the tournament top-scorer award, with seven goals. Ghana's Ransford Osei was titled as the second-top scorer, finding the target six times.

Ghana had to settle for fourth place after losing 2-1 to Germany in the third-place play-off match.
