Suspected Drug Lord Arrested in Mexico

Mexican soldiers and top police officials detained de la Cruz, also known as "The JC", on the 29th and Mexican officials made the announcement on Wednesday. de la Cruz, along with four Colombians and three alleged hit men were arrested in Mexico City at an Argentine steak restaurant known for its rich Mexican clientele and visiting foreign businessmen.

This year, at least 1,600 people have been killed so far in a war between the Gulf Cartel, which dominates drug smuggling routes on Mexico's Atlantic coast and the powerful Sinaloa gang on the Pacific coast.

Just last week, police arrested one of the leading members the Sinaloa gang and 10 other suspected drug smugglers in the northern city of Hermosillo, in Mexico.
