Sony’s New Tech Toy

Sony Corp. revealed its new rolling egg-shaped digital music player in Tokyo, Monday, Sept. 10, 2007.

The new “Rolly” is set to go on sale September 29, in Japan. Sony’s new digi-toy is equipped with stereo speakers, 1 gigabyte of internal flash memory and a battery good for about five hours of music.

The Rolly is a new and improved gadget that is small enough to fit into the palm of your hands. It also comes with sensors that recognizes which way is up, that allows the volume to be controlled by turning the player clockwise or counterclockwise, and tunes to be switched by pushing or pulling it on the floor.

Retailers will be selling the Rolly starting at 40,000 yen ($354 USD).

Overseas sales are still undecided.
