Bishop Thomas Weeks was unpleasantly surprised Monday when he received divorce papers from estranged wife, national evangelist Juanita Bynum. Weeks allegedly attacked Bynum on August 21 in an Atlanta hotel parking lot.
Weeks has stated that he would prefer to be married.
Bynum spent the weekend in California where she attended a fund-raiser for presidential candidate Barack Obama. The party was held at Oprah Winfrey's estate.
Bynum is looking to start a domestic violence ministry. Last week, she stated that she would love the opportunity to be an advocate against domestic violence.
Weeks was charged with felony aggravated assault, felony terroristic threats and two counts of simple battery in connection to the incident. He could face up to 27 years in jail if convicted.
