Fred Thompson Tries To Turn His Late Entry Into An Advantage

Coming late into the race has its advantages but according to former Senator Fred Thompson, coming in late can also have its advantages. According to him, he will run a non-traditional campaign that will set him apart from the other candidates. He plans to use the latest for of technology to reach voters to convince to vote for him.

Although the plans of Thompson may be viable, political observes have it that most of the things that Thompson is thinking about is already being done by other candidates. Senator Barack Obama of the Democratic Party is already running an unorthodox campaign that has earned him a lot of support on one end and plenty of criticisms on the other.

Despite the many negative advices that he received against running for president, Thompson seem to be unperturbed. Sources close to the former senator said that he may declare his official candidacy sometime in September. The decision of Thompson is said to be influenced by the recent polls conducted by CNN which put him second behind former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and the results of the Washington Post which tied him with Giuliani for second place behind Mitt Romney. The results of these polls are archived online by USAElectionPolls.com.

Asked whether he is worried about the fact that he only placed seventh during the recent Iowa straw poll, he said that the results are non-conclusive that the fact that there are still those people who supported him even when he had not made his candidacy official only goes to show that he has the support of the people.
