Madeleine McCann DNA evidence positive match, Kate and Gerry McCann to be charged

Traces of what Portuguese police believe was Madeleine McCann’s blood found in her parents rented car shows a 100 percent match to her DNA. The latest development caused Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, to officially be named suspects.

Police believe they have evidence to prove Madeleine’s body was put in the car by her parents. The McCann’s rented the car 25 days after the disappearance of their daughter, raising questions as to why Madeleine's blood would be in the car.

Another DNA sample taken from the car had an 80 percent match to Madeleine. A source close to the investigation said the evidence “shows that the parents have a lot of explaining to do.”

Despite the latest developments in the case, Gerry McCann remains optimistic that the evidence will prove he and Kate’s innocence in their daughter’s abduction. “We have absolute confidence that, when all of the facts are presented together, we will be able to demonstrate that we played absolutely no part in Madeleine’s abduction,” Gerry wrote in a statement.
