Kanye West says MTV exploited Britney Spears to get ratings

Kanye West has had a lot to say about the MTV VMA’s and has vowed to boycott MTV because he feels they did not treat him fairly. He is also defending Britney Spears’ performance at the awards show that received harsh reviews. West blames the troubled singers failed ‘comeback’ attempt on MTV and says they only let her perform to boost the show’s ratings.

Spears performance of her new single “Gimme More” was slammed by celebrities and fans. She seemed unprepared and at one point stopped singing all together.

“Man, they were just trying to get ratings, and they knew she wasn’t ready and they exploited her,” the rapper said. “They exploited her, they played me and I really don’t mess with MTV.”

West also expressed he was treated unfairly be MTV saying, “So why do you have me do ‘Stronger’ in a suite, but you end the show with Justin? I looked at 50 like, yo, we need to help each other as much as possible.”

West and rapper 50 cent are in a battle over the release of their albums. 50 cent vowed to quit his singing career if West’s record out sells his. West says he and his rival ‘bonded’ backstage over the issue with MTV.

He added that the network made a “bad move” letting Spears open the show and believes he should have opened with “Stronger,” his single on his new album, “Graduation.”
