A massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake has rocked central Chile, killing at least 122 people and triggering tsunami warnings in several countries around the Pacific Ocean.
With several buildings, homes and bridges laying in collapse the death toll across the country is expected to rise significantly. The quake devastated much of the city of Concepcion, located nearly 200 miles southwest of Santiago.
Reaching Concepcion has been difficult for search crews as several roads have been destroyed and bridges wiped away.
The capital of Santiago was not as badly hit but the city’s international airport terminal will be closed for at least 72 hours.
