Barack Obama Struggles To Establish A New Face In Politics

Senator Barack Obama, a Democratic presidential candidate, struggles to establish a new kind of politics in the country. At age 46, Obama is the youngest among the presidential aspirants. He is also considered as one of the least experienced in this arena considering that he is still in his a freshman senator. The fact that he is proposing some rather unorthodox approaches to foreign policies has earned him comments such as “irresponsible” and “naïve” from his opponents. Senator Hillary Clinton, the Democratic front runner, was not happy with the way Obama handles the issue on foreign policies and she is quick to point out the inability of Obama to look into the issues more deeply before issuing statements.

Since then, Barack Obama has been struggling in the polls. Once within striking distance of Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire, he is tied with John Edwards and going down in the polls archived at USAElectionPolls.com.

His latest statements on the Cuba issue have inflamed debates on the restrictions imposed on Cuban-Americans. Many of his critics were quick to pounce on his proposal to lift the travel and remittance restrictions to Cuban-Americans. However, there are also some people who believe that Senator Obama might be right on some issues regarding foreign policies. According to political observers, the issue on Cuba has been there for the last 50 years and nothing much as changed for that period of time. The embargo has not change the stand of the Cuban government nor did it make life any easier for Cuban-Americans. Given this scenario, many political observes are inclined to believe that a fresh face like Obama who is not afraid to voice out his opinion may be helpful to solve the situation. According to them, if doing the same thing over the period of 50 years did not solve the problem, taking a fresh approach to it may do some good.
