In a speech that Thompson gave to the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention, he talked about many of the issues that are facing him and the rest of the country. One of the ways to judge how a speech goes off is to measure the number of times it is interrupted by applause. His was seven times, while Barack Obama, speaking before the same group, was interrupted eighteen times. What does this say? Well, considering that they were both speaking in front of an older and more conservative group who are largely in support of the war, and considering that Obama is anti-war, it means that Obama did a better job in the speech, which shows that he is more apt to impress people during a main campaign.
What this shows is that Thompson has a problem with impressing people. This will come as quite an issue for him if he does win the nomination, because it means that he will have to work much harder to convince people to vote for him than the people-friendly Obama would have to.
According to the latest polls posted on USAElectionPolls.com, Fred Thompson is beginning the race very strong in the polls.
