Comedian Kathy Griffin, long known for stretching the limits of good taste, has drawn the ire of several religious groups after her acceptance speech at the Creative Arts Emmy.
After being recognized for her work on the show “My Life on the D-List” Griffin told the audience, “A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus.”
Griffin continued to make disparaging remarks about Jesus and when she wrapped up her speech she hoisted the trophy and said, “Suck it, Jesus. This award is my god now.”
When questioned about her comments backstage Griffin offered no apologies saying, “I hope I offended some people. I didn't want to win the Emmy for nothing.”
While “My Life on the D-List” airs on E! Entertainment network, the same network that will be airing the show on Saturday, she’s receiving no love from the stations officers. E! has opted to censor Griffin’s comments before the show hits the air.
