Mike Huckabee Hopes To Follow Bill Clinton's Footsteps, Not Of Hillary

Mike Huckabee is hoping to follow another former Arkansas governor into the White House and believes in the need for character education as part of school curriculum. He sends his children to public schools and believes all candidates should do the same to help teach them about the world as viewed from a non-privileged viewpoint.

At this time, according to USA Election Polls (USAElectionPolls.com), Huckabee is polling highest in Iowa, New Hampshire and Texas. He is also polling lowest in the Western States.

Although former Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton made it to the White House, not all of Huckabee’s views are considered consistent with the Democratic Party’s opinion. He does however, believes in returning more power to the individual states and is a reluctant supporter of capital punishment. He has pushed for more federal funding and involvement in war on drugs but also advocate drug treatment in place of incarceration.

He recently accused fellow candidate Republican Mitt Romney for being out of touch with the reality of life in the middle class, and points to his own humble beginnings as a means of understanding what the working class goes through on a daily basis. Bringing his own private life in line with the voters, he has been able to relate to the people who elected him to the governor’s post.

Concerning education, especially on the debate between intelligent design and evolution, he points out he is running for public office and not trying to write science curriculum and believe that when a school district fails its students, the entire school board needs to be replaced, since they are responsible for the educational future of America. He also believes that it better to make mistakes with prisoners in the war on terror than it is to put Americans at risk of further terrorist attacks.
