UPS Now Services Japan

The U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Transportation have agreed to allow the United Parcel Service Inc. (NYSE:UPS), the world's largest shipping and delivery company, and other carriers to expand its services to and from Japan.

UPS will now be able to operate six daily flights between the United States and Nagoya, Japan, in addition to the regular 47 flights a week to and from Tokyo and Osaka.

UPS said it will also be able to connect flights to its new air hub in Shanghai, China, that will open in 2008.

UPS shares rose 21 cents to $74.38.
