Chechen Girls Found Dead near Poland

Thursday, Polish border guards found the bodies of three Chechen sisters who died in the mountains on the border of Ukraine.

Shortly after the guards also found the bodies they discovered the girls'  exhausted mother along with her other two year old daughter nearby.

Police said that the family was believed to be attempting to enter Poland illegally and the family had spent four days in the rain and cold.

The bodies were found 3600 feet up in the Bieszczady mountain range. The girls were six, ten and thirteen years old.

Thousands have fled Chechnya, a mountainous area in Russia, in more than a decade of conflict.

The mother and surviving daughter are now in the hospital and being treated for hypothermia.
