Mindy McCready Sentenced to One Year for Probation Violation

Country singer Mindy McCready was sentenced to one year in prison on Friday after a Nashville judge determined the 31-year-old violated her probation when she was charged with a domestic dispute charge following an altercation with her mother.

In 2004 McCready was arrested and charged for illegally obtaining prescription painkillers. Her three-year sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation.

McCready had just over three months left on her probation when she was arrested in July for the domestic fight. The "Guys Do It All the Time" singer was taken to a Fort Myers police station and eventually released on $1,000 bail but immediately flew to Nashville.

Upon her arrival in the Music City the troubled singer was arrested and has spent the past two months in the Williams County Jail.

On Friday McCready asked for leniency telling the judge, “Your honor, I can honestly tell you this: This has been the longest two months of my life ... not being able to hold my son ... has been excruciatingly painful.” She continued, “I could only say I'm sorry, please give me a chance to make things as right as they can possibly be.”
