Madeleine McCann case: Richard Branson, owner of Virgin Records, pledges 100,000 pounds

Virgin records owner Richard Branson has pledged 100,000 pounds in the Madeleine McCann case. The money is being put towards legal fees the McCann’s have acquired after being named official suspects in the disappearance of their daughter.

Meanwhile, Kate and Gerry McCann have announced they are renewing the campaign to find Madeleine with 80,000 pounds which will be spent on newspaper and billboard advertisements across Europe.

Branson has reportedly been in touch with prominent figures in Europe to encourage financial support of the McCann’s. “This is a chance to give them a fair hearing. Over the last few weeks Richard has been watching events as they have unfolded,” said the Virgin bosses spokeswoman. “There is a whole family involved here. When the McCann’s said under no circumstances would they touch the Find Madeleine Fund and mentioned they would sell their house, Richard just felt he had to do something.”

Portuguese police believe Kate McCann accidentally killed Madeleine with an overdose of sleeping pills and Gerry McCann helped cover up the crime. The theory comes after traces of Madeleine’s blood and body fluid were found in a car the McCann’s rented 25 days after her disappearance.
