Barack Obama Must Get Used To Public Scrutiny

Since Labor Day, the traditional start of the campaign season has passed, Illinois Senator Barack Obama needs to get used to public scrutiny. His idea that he could make it through a presidential election campaign without his wife and children seeing personal attacks against his is pure folly. Simply observing national politics in is most basic form of mud slinging keeps many people from the ring, but Obama seems to think that merely asking the press to leave his family out of it will result in a clean campaign.

According to USA Election Polls (USAElectionPolls.com), Obama is trailing Senator Clinton by 20%. He is doing great even in states like Georgia and California and is expected to continue to be a frontrunner in the race.

While he and most of the other Democrats seeking the nomination of the party have been playing nice through the early stages of the contest, as the race becomes more heated the gloves are going to come off. Seeing their dad and husband on the ropes during times in the campaign is not going to be anything new and should not come as a surprise or a disappointment.

This can be especially troubling for the first black man with a real chance of being nominated for the country’s highest office. With many of the black females reportedly supporting Hillary Clinton and the majority of black males supporting Obama, this racial divide may wreak havoc on his campaign as well as his family life.

While many democrats appear to like his political message, they are expressing doubts that 2008 is the right time for his candidacy. His freshman year in the Senate is being viewed as unremarkable, causing many to believe a few more years in Washington will more properly prepare him for the realities of a national election bid.
