Dole Recall Follows Positive E. Coli Test in Salad Mix

Dole has recalled more than 5,000 bags of a salad mix sold under the name Dole’s Hearts Delight after a package tested positive for a potential deadly strain of E. Coli.

The recall affects at least nine states and several provinces in Canada that received packages of the product with the “best if used by” date labeled September 19, 2007 bearing the code “A24924A” and “A24924B.”

A bag sold in Canada was discovered to be contaminated with E. Coli and when Dole was made aware they contacted the FDA who in turn visited the plant and plan to visit the growers.

Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee along with Ontario, Quebec and the Maritime Provinces in Canada reportedly received shipment of potentially contaminated bags.
