Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has eight years as the first lady and six years in the senate. She’s strong, experienced, tough and ready to serve as the president of the United States. But is this enough to conquer her past scandals and controversies attached to her husband’s presidency? Watergate and inappropriate relationships with White House staff have made the Clinton name famous in an unwanted way. Due to these actions and occurrences will Sen. Hillary Clinton become president? Some democrats are feeling uneasy about past occurrences, making them hesitant to support Sen. Clinton. Should these blemishes of her past affect her in receiving voter’s approval? As Americans we often believe in second chances. We give those around us the benefit of the doubt. Shouldn’t we treat our electoral candidates in the same way that we treat the average citizen of our country? After all when bumps in the road appear on the road to the White house, Sen. Clinton comes off confident, calm and assuring.
In times of war, financial hardship and heavy debates on illegal immigration, isn’t this what we are looking for out of a presidency candidate? For most of the women in the United States, it is believed that a woman should not pay the price for the sins of her husband; therefore Sen. Clinton should not be affected by her husband’s presidency. Instead she should be given a fresh slate, and be judged only upon her standings and ability to lead our country into change. She has goals to upgrade education, improve our efforts to lessen global warming and to begin bringing our troops home from Iraq. These are some of the topics the American people want discussed and answers that equal solutions. Sen. Hillary Clinton just may be the woman for the job!
