Even though Clinton has actually only been on the campaign trail for herself beginning in the 2000 senate race, she has been a public figure and in the public eye since well before that time. One of her biggest problems on the current campaign trail has been dealing with the citizens who don’t know her for who she is, and instead have wrapped her up in what she was.
Clinton has been in the spotlight ever since her husband was running for governor. As she starts her own run for president, she is finding that many people have had opinions about her since she came into the white house as Bill Clinton’s first lady, and these opinions are leaking through into her campaign for her own presidency. Part of the reason that she is finding trouble in many places is that she is fighting with the images that have been held of her for many years.
When she first entered the white house, she got some criticism because she was wrapped up in the Whitewater scandal. She also had to contend with a health care initiative that didn’t pan out, and later had to work on defending her husband’s reputation as well as her own when Bill admitted to having an affair in the oval office.
With all of these hurdles to jump over, Clinton’s biggest problem is going to be convincing the voters to ignore everything they’ve thought about her for years, and listen to what she has to say now. According to USA Election Polls (USAElectionPolls.com), Obama is trailing Senator Clinton by 20%. He is doing best in Georgia and California and is expected to continue to be a frontrunner in the race.
