Approximately one million cribs designed by Simplicity have been recalled after it was determined that a flaw in the design led to the deaths of three infants and led several other babies trapped in their bed.
Due to an error in the product’s design consumers can unintentionally fasten a piece of hardware upside down which could potentially lead to an infant’s death. The failure to assemble the hardware that involves the drop side of the crib has led to the death of a 1-year-old, 9-month-old and 6-month-old.
There have also been several infants who have become trapped in their Simplicity cribs due to the drop side not being assembled properly and now the Consumer Product Safety Commission has ruled the product unsafe.
The Simplicity cribs affected by the recall include the Aspen 3 in 1,
Model numbers for these products include 4600, 4605, 4705, 5000, 8000, 8324, 8800, 8740, 8910, 8994, 8050, 8750, 8760, and 8996.
