So far, there are eight Democrats that are hopefuls for the presidential nominee from the Democratic party. The nominees themselves are hardly able to spend any time tooting their own horns and talking about their own issues, because they spend most of their time worrying about how to react to what the other candidates are doing. As the weeks wear on, and the primary season gets closer, the Democrats are finding themselves more and more at odds with each other, and more and more serious about doing their own campaigning.
According to USA Election Polls (USAElectionPolls.com), Obama is trailing Hillary Clinton by about 20% in the national polls. John Edwards has been making small gains in the past two months and Bill Richardson continues to do quite well in Iowa.
One of the latest hot button topics has been Obama’s statements that he would be willing to meet with leaders of Iran, Syria and North Korea. Hillary Clinton called that statement naïve, and said that a presidential hopeful shouldn’t tell the world he’d be willing to meet with our enemies without any conditions in the first year.
Obama seems to be catching a lot of flack lately, within the Democratic party. The other members were asked during ABC’s This Week last week whether or not they felt that he is ready to be president. Obama turned the tables on Hillary after this question, stating that he believes that a new, fresh face is a good idea, and that she is part of some of the failed politics in Washington over the last 20 years.
With so much going back and forth amongst the Democrats, it is hard to guess who the winner might be, and who that person will pick as their running mate. There are many great options for the Democratic people to choose from, so they’d better get cracking on making a good decision.
