Most of the time, the nation believes that the United States is a two party system, and that this is working very well and should not be changed. Indeed, for many years it has been a two party system, and this is the way that all of the elections have gone. However, with the recent distrust for many parts of the government comes an idea that some are supporting – the idea that the two party system is perhaps not the best way to go, and that there should be a national change that is made.
According to USA Election Polls, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are leaders in the Democratic race while the Republican race is up in the air with several candidates vying for top tier status such as Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, John McCain, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, and Ron Paul.
The group Unity08 is one of the groups of people who are working towards making this change a reality for the nation. They want to shake up the two party system and they want the entire nation to realize that having more than 2 parties is a good idea for the way that this government should be run.
The goal of Unity08 is to figure out a way to promote a ticket for the White House that is either bipartisan or independent. They hope to use many of the same tactics that the other parties running for the White House do in order to create a situation in which there is enough money to mount a campaign for president for a different party.
