Nan Goldin art exhibit seized for possible child porn, picture owned by Elton John
A photograph by American artist Nan Goldin was seized by police the day before it was to go on display to the public. Police believe the photograph may breach child pornography laws as it shows a little girl sitting with her legs spread.
The photograph is apart of ‘Thanksgiving’ from Elton Johns private collection. It is believed that an assistant director of the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art called police after seeing the photograph, because they believed the picture may be offensive to the public. A warning was posted for all viewers saying the art may contain explicit language, nudity, sexual imagery and violence.
The museum’s communications director said, “The police are involved in this incident and we are fully cooperating with their inquires. That is all I can say on this at the moment.”
