Jets to Release Thomas Jones

The New York Jets announced Monday that they will release running back Thomas Jones.  This past season was one of the best of his career, as he set career highs in rushing and touchdowns while helping to lead the Jets to an AFC Championship game. Despite this fact, a salary dispute will see Jones become a free agent this week.  The Jets wanted him to take a pay cut and they were unable to come to a resolution.  Jones will join LaDainian Tomlinson, Brian Westbrook, and Jamal Lewis as another recently released, high profile running back.
