Juanita Bynum Interview on Good Morning America Discusses Abusive Marriage

Juanita Bynum appeared on Good Morning America on Wednesday and openly discussed the pattern of abusive relationships in which she has been involved. It has been just over a month since Bynum was allegedly attacked by her husband in a parking lot of an Atlanta hotel.

In that attack Bynum was choked and then kicked several times by her estranged husband, Bishop Thomas Weeks III. Shortly after the attack Weeks was indicted on felony charges related to aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.

During her interview on GMA Bynum revealed that she had been involved in an abusive first marriage as well but said, “My first marriage is something that, he repented for what he did, and I made a vow that I would not talk about that situation because it was over 20 years ago.”

As for her involvement with Weeks and the attack that occurred Bynum stated, “I think right now my focus lately has been on why have I allowed this kind of behavior for a second time. I'm really focusing on my own healing rather than looking at the faults of the individuals because I can't do anything about their actions; I can only do something about my own.”

Bynum is in the process of filing divorce papers in Gwinnett County after her initial filing in Ware County was dismissed.
